  1. verse 6 through 8 really spoke to me, not because i walk around puffed up but the whole aspect of salvation being a gift and therefore one who recieves a gift has done nothing better or is any more distinguished than the next person. something josh and i stayed up way too late talking about last night...

  2. That's really good and so true. Our very existence is because God created us.

  3. "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14

Not one of us should be "puffed up", not Billy Graham or Peter or Paul or Bill or Fusco or the Pope because we our totally reliant upon God for EVERYTHING...for our existence and our salvation... like little kids.

  4. Yes, I too liked how Paul emphasizes everything we have is a gift - "[I]t is the gift of God...lest any man should boast".

I also like how Paul says, "immitate me". This may sound arrogant at first but Paul is confident in Christ alone and knows all that he accomplished is only because God was working in him, and for this reason we ought to immitate him. I think it's important to note that he is advocating all believers to have a Godly, well established role model (I think we should have several personally). And no, Lance Armstrong wouldn't fit those qualifications :)

  5. Good point Josh. Do you guys have Godly role models? If so, who are they? Mine was Lance Armstrong but I guess I better get another. :)

  6. HA! Yeah, maybe you should pick someone with a better rep like Barry Bonds.

When I think of Godly role models, I'd have to say my parents were/are probably the biggest. My grandparents were a good representation as well.

However, I believe having multiple role models that are not necessarily intimate relationships is important. For example, I look at C.S. Lewis as a role model in terms of how he was able to communicate/contend his faith through writing. Or I view Chuck Colson as a role model because of his ability to engage the culture and view the issues of our day biblically, as well as his model of charity. And there's biblical role models such as Paul, Daniel, David, and of course Jesus. Come to think of it, I suppose Jesus should be at the top of every believer's list...

  7. :) Yes hopefully both Lance and Barry will find their real purpose in Jesus.

Thats great about your parents and grandparents. Good point about about the other role models. Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis really woke me up to the reality of God. One of my favorite books.

My dad is probably my biggest Godly role model.
