Joshua 1:8

"...[B]ut you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8).

"You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me." (John 5:39).

"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13).

Friday, October 5th - Romans 12

V. 20 is clearly responsible for that whole "kill them with kindness" attitude. But really how kind, loving are you for your enemy if in the back of your mind you're heaping burning coals on their head?
I do like the ealier verses wrt to everyone being given different gifts and talents.

  1. haha... Yes are we motivated by love or by heaping coals? Most of the time I'd rather heap coals. :). I too like the part about being one body with different functions.

  2. Sorry, I posted yesterday - or so I thought - for some reason it didn't go through. I like Mary's comment; we should definitely be wary of our true intentions. I think by the heaping coals, Paul wasn't necessarily saying we should want to hurt others (do not be overcome by evil) but more inferring that our kindness heaps coals on an already burning anger and thus smothering it (overcome evil with good). At least that's what I got out of it...
