Joshua 1:8
"...[B]ut you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8).
"You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me." (John 5:39).
"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13).
Interesting names here. Quite a testimony to see people with names like "Olympas" and "Narcissus" come to faith in Jesus in a society so saturated with Greek gods. Also interesting to see God's Spirit changing how men in their society view women in the faith. Weren't women second class citizens then? Maybe not in Rome. Although I remember Paul mentioning somewhere that women should stay quiet in church. I agree. KIDDING!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what kind of "divisions and obstacles" these early believers dealt with? I know I need to work on that whole "own appetites" thing. But who of us doesn't. Its just a matter of putting Christ on the throne in EVERYTHING with do. Back to Romans 13 verse 14.
