"...And whoever falls on this stone will be broken;
but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”
- Matthew 21:44
One must be willing to be broken by Christ; broken of all our habits, notions, and premonitions, or else be ground in our rebellion by the harsh reality of life - and ultimately by the judgment of God.
Yet it is in our broken state that God reveals Himself to us - that our eyes are opened.
“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear,
But now my eye sees You.
Therefore I abhor myself,
And repent in dust and ashes.”
- Job 42:5&6
Therefore, one must learn to humble oneself before the Almighty; fervently seeking Him through repentance, turning from the pride of life, and recognizing our bent away from what is Good.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted."
- Matthew 5:3&4
It is out of our brokenness that God is then able to comfort, bless, and use us to bless others.
