Joshua 1:8
"...[B]ut you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8).
"You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me." (John 5:39).
"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13).
The Spirit that descended on Jesus as a dove last chapter, then drives Jesus out into the wilderness.
ReplyDeleteNotice the first two temptations Satan presents are exactly the same as what he brought before Adam and Eve in the garden. The second and third should get every Christian's attention. Satan knows Scripture, quotes it regularly (out of context or incomplete), and desires more than anything to be worshipped. The third temptation explains why we can't view religion as safe. We need to be descerning and understand Satan's ultimate goal is to take God's place and he is willing to give up anything to do so. No wonder there are so many religions, sects, cults, and denomoinations in the world!
