Joshua 1:8
"...[B]ut you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8).
"You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me." (John 5:39).
"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13).
"...Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief" (v.15).
ReplyDeleteI believe anyone who is honestly seeking God and a meaningful relationship with Him, must identify with this verse. Paul isn't being pious when he states things like this. He is simply admitting his utter bankruptcy as a man. Thus, "[F]or this reason I obtained mercy..." (v. 16).
As Joel stated last night, we must be aware of our inner depravity. That we might not depend on ourselves but on God who is making us like His Son by the washing of His blood and the regeneration of His Spirit. John the Baptist put it quite simply - I must decrease that He might increase.
Amen Josh. God is changing us into the likeness of His Son by His Spirit because of His Grace and Mercy towards us. It is that awareness of our own sin that drives us to Jesus every moment. I love the John the Baptist quote. Amen. Praise Jesus.
