Joshua 1:8
"...[B]ut you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8).
"You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me." (John 5:39).
"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13).
This chapter is always a good reminder to me when I start comparing myself to church celebrities like Fusco and Bill and getting discouraged that God can't use a schmuck like me for his purpose. After all, if he can use a donkey (Numbers 22:28), then he can use anybody. :)
ReplyDeleteHa! Good point, but joel don't equate yourself to a donkey! I like v.22, and if anyone has broken or even stubbed their baby toe they can relate to this verse. In the competitive culture we live in, with constant comparisons, it is so easy to lose sight of how important every piece, or every person really is.
ReplyDeleteYes v22 to 25 is the answer to comparison and discouragement. It IS easy to forget that EVERY little part is vital to the body of Christ.
ReplyDeleteIt also reminds me of Paul's admonition to be content in all things. If I stop whining about what I don't have and do my best with what I do, the whole body profits from it. And don't worry, Joel, I'm sure my wife would say I'm the ass of the body! J/K babe!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but read the next chapter because of the way this chapter was ended. All these things are pointless without love.
