Joshua 1:8

"...[B]ut you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8).

"You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me." (John 5:39).

"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13).

Wednesday, August 1st - Acts 4

While the apostles were able to do many miracles, the true sign of the Holy Spirit is the proclamation of Jesus Christ.  I like the verse "For there is no other name under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved".
This Chapter emphasizes the power of coming together to worship and pray as well as the necessity of giving to those in need.
Interesting how miracle after miracle - first with Jesus and now the apostles - the religious leaders of that day were so blinded by their own beliefs.

  1. I thought it was interesting in v. 13 how they point out that they are uneducated ordinary men. Crazy! But this would be where it is so easy to get caught up in hierarchy structure and prestige. How easy it is to vary your listening depending upon someone's credentials...

  2. We should also be slow to judge based on our biased impressions. Notice how they observe that they were with Jesus. It's so easy to dismiss someone/something, regardless how sound their logic, simply because it is contrary to what is common or acceptable or even traditional.
